It's Christmas!

Christmas to the Italians is still essentially a religious festival. Representations of the Nativity, or Crib, are a fundamental part of the celebration and every church has a display of Nativity Scenes, mostly made by children. The thing is, they make them out of themed items. So you might get a Nativity made of bread, or stones, or washing-up bottles or fag packets. OK, so I made the last one up but you get the picture. The Crib pictured here was in the church where the concert took place on Saturday and is composed, remarkably, of baby pumpkins. I particularly like the cattle in the background with their horns made of pumpkin stalks. I think Jesus is a pumpkin seed, which seems absolutely appropriate. Almost restores one's faith in misguided, left-footing infants.

This looks a little like Wilf's nativity play yesterday, except that he decided to remove his pig's costume half way through (don't remember the Bible mentioning pigs in the stable; Cindy will know). Trouble was it was all he'd got on. But he did keep his porcine mask on. That's my boy.

I am of of the firm view that you are a closet left footer. I base this belief on the fact that you seem to spend a considerable amount of your time in the One True church. Furthermore, like a good left footer you are always knocking the One True church. Why don't you admit it like your mate Blair.?, One very important point though is we don't want you lot clogging our empty pews, you made your 'deficient' (to quote the man in the big hat ) beds 400 years ago.
Oh Peter, as a good Jewish boy you should know the rules on pigs.
Happy Hannukah

ps Good old Wilf leaving his Porcine mask on. Better than leaving a Hitler mask on like Uncle Ron. Ask him about that if he can recall next time you see him.

Religion wise I'm what Betjeman called'middle stump'. CofE since I was seventeen. I have never been a mate of Blair's, resting my feet firmly on the other side of the dispatch box, as it were. I don't see the Porcine Wilf as often as I'd like to, but the next time I do I'm going to ask him if I can borrow the mask for the village carol service.

Trouble with Papists is that they're soooooo serious. It's all the fear that springs from the horror of the Confession Box.
